Front Pages of the world

1. My favorite newspaper front page is the one from St. Croix, US Virgin Islands because some of the things they was talking about was interesting and because that is where I'm from as well.

2. My favorite headline from that page was "video could be key to finding Boston bomber". I'm interested in finding out who the bomber was and why would he do something like that.

3. There are five stories on the front page of my favorite newspaper.

4. The things that they all have in common is that they all have pictures, they don't have no more then five stories, their captions texts are bigger then the actual text itself, their text is all the same size,  and they all talk about the weather that day.

5. The things that are different is that some photos on newspapers are bigger then other pictures on other newspapers, some have coupons and others don't, and the head title are bigger then others.

The 7 News Values in the news

Timeliness:

APD to honor Boy Scout who came to man’s aid

 http://www.statesman.com/news/news/crime-law/apd-to-honor-boy-scout-who-came-to-mans-aid/nXHpD/

I believe this article is driven by timeliness because it just happened and it came at a good time.

Proximity:

Possible shooting reported in South Austin

http://www.statesman.com/news/news/crime-law/possible-shooting-reported-in-south-austin/nXHTG/

I believe this article is driven by proximity because it is close to where I live so I would be someone who would be reading this article.

 Prominence:

5 things Anthony Weiner and his wife have to say

http://www.usatoday.com/story/onpolitics/2013/04/10/anthony-weiner-huma-abedin-new-york-times-interview/2070523/

I believe this article is driven by prominence because it has to do with someone who has been in the news before and was a prominent US representative.

Impact:

Hurricane forecast: Above-average Atlantic season

http://www.usatoday.com/story/weather/2013/04/10/2013-atlantic-hurricane-season-forecast-colorado-state/2067953/

I believe this article is driven by impact because since hurricane season is coming around a lot of people are very fearful about how things are really going to look when it comes to the weather.

Conflict:

South Korea and U.S. Gird for Missile Test by North Korea

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/11/world/asia/north-korea-missile.html?ref=world&_r=0

This is a story of conflict because it shows that there is still tension between North and South Korea.

Human Interest:

One dead, one injured in East Austin shootings

http://www.statesman.com/news/news/crime-law/one-dead-and-another-injured-in-northeast-austin-s/nXHXB/

This is a story of human interest because it has to do with people dying in an area that a lot of conflict happens.

Novelty:

Reward offered in drive-by shooting of circus elephant

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/04/10/circus-elephant-drive-by-shooting-reward/2070443/

This story is driven by novelty because it's not everyday that you hear about a circus elephant being killed in a drive-by shooting.

Lenses and Photography Vocabulary

I would use a telephoto lens when you have a large landscape area and you're trying to focus on the small details and you have bright lighting.

I would use a prime lens where you have low light and where you want to have fine details.

I would use a wide-angle lens when I have a lot to fit into a frame, like a big group picture.

DEFINITIONS
  • depth of field - distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear sharp
  • light - element that makes things visible

Plans after high school

Hopefully after high school I hope to find a job near my college and I continue to work and go to school. I know I want to continue playing football in college as well and I hope to get a walk-on scholarship for football while I'm in college.

Holiday Review

1. Over the break I got to hang out with the youth from my church for New Years Eve and it was a whole lot of fun. We pretty much played Madden 13 on the Xbox 360 the entire time.

2. My resolution for 2013 is to actually become closer to God and start being more faithful to Him.

3. Turning 18.

2012 In Review

One of the most important people of 2012 goes to Adele. She was a new artist that impacted many lives. Her music spoke of the wonders of love and of course, heartbreaks. She attracted many fans, boys and girls, young and old. She set record breaking numbers of downloads and views of her music. She preformed at grammys and large shows. She quickly made her way up to the top and inspired others.
I think Kendrick Lamar- Swimming Pools(Drank) is the best song of 2012 because Kendrick Lamar puts a piece of himself into the song and talks about some of his troubles. The way Kendrick Lamar puts the song together; the beat and the lyrics just flow so beautifully together.

I think Expendables 2 was the greatest movie of 2012 because it had all of the greatest action stars ever, in my opinion. The director put all these action stars into a high-explosive, large shootout, and great fight scene filled movie that really left you wanting more.
One of the most important stories of 2012 is the election. Barrack Obama wins office once again and will continue to make our country strong within the next 4 years. He will help determine how our future will turn out and do his best to make America a better place. It was a very close election, but Obama was able to come out with the win.

Best Photos of 2012

I like this photo because the soldier looks like he is completely walking on air and it is really interesting to see a photo like this.
The reason I chose this photo is because I really like the look of how the clouds make the eclipse look even better.
The reason I chose this photo is because I liked the fact of seeing humans caring for animals even when they will one day become larger than us.
